Overview

Take a trip to Mount Hagen on your Papua New Guinea Vacation

Mount Hagen, Papua New Guinea’s third largest city is a bustling urban centre in the Wahgi Valley. It is also the capital of the Western Highlands Province and was named after an extinct volcano located just northwest of the city. It is an important centre for mining, coffee, potatoes and sweet potatoes. On Papua New Guinea tours, visitors will find many villages, coffee plantations, groves of casuarinas and much greenery here.

You can visit the Saturday Market, the main place where all the locals in colourful traditional attire go shopping and trade. The largest cultural event in Papua New Guinea is the Mount Hagen Cultural Show which takes place every August and features many highland tribes wearing body paint and tribal headdresses made of feathers while performing “Sing sing”. It is one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions on Papua New Guinea tours.

I love learning about Nicaragua's culture and experiencing its Spanish influence in some cities. I was only there for five days, but I'll never forget how delicious the food was and how welcoming and extremely polite the people were.

The Day of the Dead in Guatemala is a great local tradition where people gather to fly giant, intricately decorated kites to honour the dead.

The colourful Spanish architecture, the beautiful scenery, particularly the stunning lakes, and the Mayan ruins are what I love most about Guatemala!
