What do Goway's travellers say?

“This was the first time we used Goway…”
This was the first time we used Goway Travel and Brooke Theron was absolutely the best to deal with. Our safari in Africa was fabulous and we were able to have all four questions answered before we left. It was a trip to remember and we would recommend both Brooke and Goway to other who are looking for a great experience. Thanks Brooke and Goway.

“Stress Free Honeymoon”
Our goal for this trip was a stress free honeymoon where we did not have to think about anything! Goway made that successful. Everything was planned and ready for us. We just had to show up. Brooke recommended fantastic accommodations that were in great locations, clean and comfortable. The tours were took with Thompson's Africa were incredible as well. Brooke was helpful throughout the entire booking process & we wouldn't have had such an incredible experience without her. We really loved our South African holiday and hope to travel there or other locations again with Goway.

“Great vacation in Botswana and Zimbabwe”
We booked a Goway tour to Botswana and Zimbabwe and it was excellent.  We worked with Brooke, the Goway represntative, to set up the tour and she was an outstanding agent who answered any questions we had very quickly and completely. Her hotel recommendation for the additional night we stayed was pefect.   Goway hires a local tour group, Jenman Safaris, to lead the safari in the 2 countries. The tour itself was amazing...the lodges that we stayed at were very nice and the food was great (except for one lodge's food). The Goway itinerary was slightly different than the actual Jenman Safari itinerary but most of the sites that we went to were the same as listed on the Goway itinerary. I would use Goway again because their choice of a local tour group was very good...nice lodges/camps and good food and knowledgeable tour guides.

“Very Specific African Honeymoon itinerary”
Matthew handled my honeymoon couple's very specific African itinerary like a pro! My clients went to four different travel agents who only wanted to send them on safaris. My clients had already done safaris and were specific on what they wanted to do and see. Matthew hit the nail on the head! Highly recommend!

“Absolutely incredible trip”
Absolutely incredible trip! From beginning to end! All accommodations were excellent. If you want to experience Safaris this trip will fulfill all your expectations! A special thanks to our driver we had for our entire trip Evans! He made our trip over the top! The Hot air balloon ride in the Masai Mara is a must…it’s breathtaking!

“Tanzania safari…”
Just got back from a fabulous safari holiday in Tanzania. The trip was amazing! Exceeded my expectations. The people, the local team at Sense of Africa, the food, the accommodations (Karibu camps: Elephant Springs+Lion’s Paw and Sametu), the safari from the sky (hot air balloon)… I can keep going. Perfect way to celebrate my 50th bday. Thanks again to Alice Teramoto and Goway for making this happen! Truly a trip of a lifetime

“GoWay for a trip to Africa (from Canada)”
Venessa Lloyd at GoWay organized a trip to Africa for us- We just returned last week. It was very well organized and included everything we requested, and more. We did two safaris - one in Tanzania and one in South Africa. They were both excellent, with first class accommodations and guides. We absolutely would recommend GoWay and Vanessa to anyone.

“I recently went on an African Safari…”
I recently went on an African Safari with my brother-in-law and sister and another couple who I knew. The entire experience was absolutely unbelievable. The complete details were flawlessly coordinated from the transfers to the breathtaking lodges. Our guides Peter showed us Kenya and Maulid Tanzania were very knowledgeable and very sharp eyes for finding the animals. We were able to see the animals up close, learn a lot about the people, birds , vegetation etc. We had several sundowners in the bush really added to a magical experience with beautiful sunsets. I would highly recommend Goway to all my friends, they will not be disappointed. Thank you to Bijal for the excellent African Safari that you put together for us. You were wonderful.

Travel Information about Zimbabwe

Get to know Zimbabwe before you go.

Best Time to Visit

Zimbabwe is a destination that reveals its magic in every season, blending untamed wilderness with vibrant cultural traditions. Whether you’re chasing the drama of Victoria Falls, setting out on a safari, or immersing yourself in festivals, the country offers year-round rewards for curious travellers.

From May to October, Zimbabwe’s dry winter is considered the best time for safaris. With mild temperatures and sparse vegetation, wildlife viewing in Hwange and Mana Pools is extraordinary as animals gather at waterholes. Victoria Falls also shines during this season—the reduced flow unveils dramatic cliff faces and provides some of the clearest views of the cascade.

The rains arrive between November and April, painting the country in shades of green. This lush “green season” is ideal for birdwatchers, as migratory species fill the skies. It’s also a more tranquil time to visit, with fewer crowds and lower accommodation costs, perfect for travellers seeking a slower pace and vibrant landscapes.

Zimbabwe’s cultural calendar adds another layer of richness. April’s Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) transforms the capital into a hub of creativity, while the Jikinya Dance Festival celebrates traditional rhythms and movement. These gatherings offer an authentic chance to engage with local communities and experience the country’s artistic spirit.

Whether it’s thrilling wildlife encounters, exploring cultural heritage, or enjoying the shifting beauty of the landscapes, Zimbabwe captivates across the seasons, ensuring each journey is both unique and memorable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. US and Canadian citizens need a visa. E-Visas and visas on arrival are available, and many travellers choose the KAZA Univisa (about US$50) which covers both Zimbabwe and Zambia and allows day trips to Botswana via Kazungula—handy if you pair Victoria Falls with Chobe. Check eligibility, fees, and entry rules again before you fly, as policies can change.

Zimbabwe recognises 16 official languages. Shona and Ndebele are the most widely spoken at home, but English is the language of business, schools, and tourism, so you’ll get by easily in cities, parks, and around Victoria Falls. Learning a few Shona greetings (mhoroi = hello) is appreciated.

Start at Victoria Falls for mist on your skin and a thunder you feel in your chest. Pair it with a safari in Hwange (huge elephant herds) and Mana Pools (canoe the Zambezi among hippos and birdlife). History lovers should add the Great Zimbabwe ruins near Masvingo. Goway features trips and extensions to all of these, including Hwange + Victoria Falls combos and broader Zimbabwe highlights.

Most visits are trouble-free, but you should exercise a high degree of caution due to petty crime and occasional unrest. Keep valuables out of sight, use hotel safes, and avoid walking after dark. Follow local advice at roadblocks, and don’t photograph government or military sites. Wildlife rules matter—keep distance from animals and listen to your guide. There’s malaria risk (higher in the rainy season), and 2025 saw elevated case numbers, so consult a travel clinic about prophylaxis. Always check your government’s latest advisory before departure.

Distances are big. Most travellers link key spots by air (e.g., Harare–Victoria Falls; Victoria Falls–Hwange) and use lodge transfers and guided game drives once on the ground—this is also how Goway structures its itineraries. Self-drive is possible but requires confidence on rough roads; 4x4 is best in parks. Book domestic flights early in peak season.

Greetings come first—shake hands, make eye contact, and use “Mr/Ms + surname” until invited otherwise. Ask before photographing people. Dress modestly in rural areas. Tipping is customary in tourism (rough guide: 10% in restaurants; envelopes for lodge staff and guides at trip’s end). It’s illegal for civilians to wear camouflage clothing, so leave camo prints at home.

Think layers. May–Oct (dry winter) brings cool mornings/evenings and crisp, dusty game drives—pack a fleece, scarf, hat, and neutral-coloured clothing. Nov–Apr (rainy, lush) is warmer and humid—light long sleeves/pants for sun and insects, a light rain jacket, and quick-dry fabrics. Closed shoes for walks, a brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and DEET or picaridin repellent are essentials. For Victoria Falls, water levels peak roughly Feb–May (more spray; bring a poncho and lens cloth) and run lowest Sep–Nov (clearer views, more exposed rock). Carry some small-denomination USD for tips; note Zimbabwe uses a multi-currency system alongside its ZiG currency—policies are evolving, so confirm payment options with your hotels before you go.
