What do Goway's travellers say?

Amazing trip to Southeast Asia
We had an amazing trip to Southeast Asia. We would like to thank Goway for organizing a memorable vacation. The tour guides were very personable, kind, respectful and knowledgeable about their countries. It was nice to be able to ask them questions and hear about their daily lives. They went above and beyond to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. We were so glad our tours were private as the guides were very flexible in accommodating us as I often could not fully participate after spending time in a hospital with food poisoning. We enjoyed our time in Singapore. The driver who drove us from and to the airport gave us a compressive overview of daily life in Singapore. It was fascinating to hear how home ownership, retirement and driving was so different there. The accommodations were excellent, the staff were all very kind and helpful. We have to particularly commend the staff at the Siesta Classic Ma May in Hanoi. Ann at reception was so kind to my husband when I was in the hospital asking him regularly how I was doing and arranging late checkout without being asked. And Suzie our Hanoi tour guide for rearranging a tour time for my husband then dropping him off at the hospital. She also managed to take me to see the Ho Chi Minh property on our way to the airport as I had missed so much of Hanoi. I would also like to thank Aurel Vion, the Goway representative from Paris, who personally called me while I was in the hospital to enquire how I was doing, cancel our Halong cruise and arrange an extra night in the hotel for my husband. It was much appreciated. Hoang was super flexible with our tours in Hue and Hoi An as I was still very weak having just gotten out of hospital. We really enjoyed our visit to the private pottery museum and meet the owner and our ride on the Perfume River in a private boat and our voyage through the mountain pass to Danang. Andy, the tour guide who picked us up from the Boutique Hoi A Resort helped us avoid the long lineups in the Danang airport, again very appreciated. Tuan our tour guide in Saigon was also very accommodating. We really enjoyed our days with him relaxing on our private sampan to Cai Be and our trip to Can Tho to visit the floating markets. He also took us to the War Remnants Museum on the way back to Saigon as we had missed our tour of the Cu Chi tunnels because our flight in Danang was delayed 4 hours. And poor Phil in Bangkok, he tried his best with the culinary tour. Unfortunately after the food poisoning we were being very cautious in what we ate. We did appreciate his tour of Chinatown and the great meal of Pad Thai. He also provided us with excellent directions so we could take the subway, skytrain and ferry by ourselves. We will never forget how we were able to experience and appreciate cultures much different than ours. We have only good things to say about Goway and certainly always recommend the company to all we know. We have already had an acquaintance of ours book a trip with the company. And lastly we must thank Katherine Samsonkinai for arranging another excellent vacation. We will certainly continue to recommend her and will be calling her again to organize our next big trip.

Best Travel Agent EVER
I want to personally thank my Travel Agent Alice Teramoto who organized two spectacular trips for me! One to Australia and most recently Vietnam and Cambodia. She nailed it! I can’t express my gratitude enough! Both trips were flawless and hassle free! Every experience exceeded my expectations! I spent my 60th Birthday in Vietnam on the Lunar New Year which was a complete thrill! I highly recommend Alice and will definitely book with her again soon! Thanks so much Alice ♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Our trip to Asia was fantastic!
Our trip to Asia was fantastic! From the beginning of registration, working with Ameet Duggal, to the actual trip, the service Goway provided was outstanding! Ameet was great to work with. He was kind, professional and answered all my questions whenever they arose. Our guides in all four locations (Hong Kong, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Siem Reap) were all exceptional. All were very well informed, spoke English very well, had a great sense of humor, were always on time, and paid attention to all the details so as to make our trip absolutely problem free and enjoyable. We were picked up at all locations at the airport, and returned there, in a punctual manner. The drivers were great, especially Bros in Siem Reap. All had lots of water for us because is was pretty hot everywhere we went. Food was wonderful and all the sites we visited were interesting and beautiful. I was especially impressed with how our guides knew how and when to navigate certain sites to avoid large crowds. They situated our visits so we would avoid the intense heat. All in all, I would definitely consider doing another independent tour with Goway. I would also recommend your services to anyone who wished to travel abroad, especially to Asia!

Vietnam & Cambodia beyond my expectations
I had an agent who organized my trip and I can’t say enough wonderful things about it! I went to Vietnam and was met by guides that were caring, knowledgeable and absolutely amazing! The flights and tours were seamlessly and way beyond my expectations! I encourage everyone to go to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year Festival. Cambodia was equally welcoming and amazing to visit. The guides treated me like a princess and filled my cultural cup! You cannot leave Cambodia without loving the people and culture! It touched my soul! 🇻🇳🇰🇭♥️👏🏻👏🏻

Oscar Chow is a top-notch employee
Oscar Chow is a top-notch employee. I have worked with about 5 GoWay specialists 1 of them was bad. 3 of them were good but Oscer is 10/10. He handles everything efficiently and quickly. NEVER is he frustrated with me or impatient on the phone or through email. He is very professional and very knowledgeable. If you have an Asain destination I would recommend him 1000%!!!! Idk how they determine if employees get raises but he gets my vote for sure!!

Working with Goway was wonderful. I worked with Destination Specialist, Suzette, who was knowledgeable, efficient, kind and patient. Having never been to this city, I needed lots of help and guidance. Everything Suzette planned worked like clockwork. Our guide was outstanding. Our hotel was perfect for us. The entire experience was “over the top” great!

Vietnam/Cambodia Trip
We went on an 18-day trip to Vietnam & Cambodia. It was customized for two couples. Our travel consultant was Harpreet Litt. The hotels, tours, and guides were all first-rate. We enjoyed the trip, and also learned a great deal about the culture & history of these two countries. Thanks again to Harpreet & Goway!

Memorable Thailand!
From start to finish it was extraordinary! Maria put together the entire itinerary for three weeks visiting 4 cities in Thailand. From airport transfers, excursions, hotels to our guides, there was attention to detail like I have never seen. This was our bucket list trip and it truly was so memorable. We enjoyed every minute of each day. Thank you Goway Travel and especially Maria!

My Asia advisor
My Asia advisor, Steve, is probably the overall tour operator rep I've worked with in 20 years. I do both groups and FIT bookings with Goway, and have actually never had a single issue. They go out of their way on both the advisor and client side.

This is my third trip with Goway… Excellent option for using an expert suggestion
This is my third trip with Goway expertise. Mr Lawrence's assistance was excellent in organizing our trip to Thailand. It was a fantastic experience! My family and I returned home very satisfied with how everything was arranged. All schedules were met, and transfers were managed exceptionally well. We plan to return next year and will seek Goway's guidance and suggestions once again. Oscar Perez

Travel Information about Hong Kong

Get to know Hong Kong before you go.

Best Time to Visit

Hong Kong is a destination that shines year-round, each season offering its own atmosphere and experiences. While the city’s energy never fades, choosing the right time to visit depends on whether you seek lively festivals, calm escapes, or value-friendly stays.

The most comfortable weather arrives in autumn, from October to November, when low humidity and mild temperatures make sightseeing and outdoor activities especially enjoyable. This is the perfect season for hiking Hong Kong’s scenic trails, exploring heritage sites, or simply soaking in city views from Victoria Peak. Spring, from March to May, brings similar comfort, though with a touch more rain.

Peak tourist periods coincide with major festivals. The Mid Autumn Festival in September or October, National Day, and Chinese New Year in January or February bring vibrant celebrations but also bigger crowds and higher accommodation rates. Travellers who enjoy festive atmospheres will find these times exhilarating, but early bookings are essential.

For affordability, July and August offer lower hotel rates despite being hot, humid, and prone to heavy rainfall during typhoon season. This period, however, is ideal for beach escapes, island-hopping, and water sports. Winter, from November to December, also offers fewer crowds and reduced prices. The weather is mild, though evenings can be cool, so warm waterproof layers are recommended.

A stay of three days is enough to capture the highlights—museum visits, bustling market streets, and a ferry ride across Victoria Harbour. With five days, travellers can dive deeper, adding side trips to Macau or Lantau Island for a well-rounded experience of Hong Kong’s rich contrasts.

For me its all about the buildings. Hong Kong has the most amazing skyline. Best place to see the skyline is from the East Coast Park Precinct in Causeway Bay.

Frequently Asked Questions

US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for short visits of up to 90 days. Your passport should be valid for at least one month beyond your stay, though six months validity is recommended. If you plan to continue into mainland China, you will need a Chinese visa, which must be arranged before arrival.

Cantonese is the most widely spoken language, with Mandarin also common due to close ties with mainland China. English is an official language and is broadly understood in business, government, and tourism. Street signs, menus, and public transport information are usually bilingual, making navigation easy.

Victoria Peak offers sweeping views of the skyline and harbour, best seen at sunset or night. The Star Ferry provides a classic ride across Victoria Harbour. The bustling markets of Mong Kok, such as the Ladies’ Market and Temple Street Night Market, show the city’s street life. Lantau Island draws visitors to the Big Buddha and traditional Tai O fishing village. For nature, Dragon’s Back trail and outlying islands offer refreshing escapes from the urban buzz.

Hong Kong is considered very safe, with low levels of violent crime. Petty theft can occur in crowded areas, so stay alert in markets and on public transport. Political demonstrations sometimes happen, and it’s best to avoid large gatherings. Public health standards are high, and tap water is generally safe, though many locals still prefer bottled or filtered water.

The MTR (subway) is fast, clean, and the easiest way to get around. Buses, trams, and ferries provide scenic alternatives, especially the Star Ferry between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Taxis are plentiful and affordable. Walking is often the best way to explore neighbourhoods, though expect hills and stairs in many areas. An Octopus Card makes public transport convenient.

Hong Kong blends Chinese traditions with international influence. Respect for elders is important, and it’s polite to offer or receive items with both hands. In restaurants, don’t stick chopsticks upright in rice—it resembles a funeral ritual. Tipping is modest: restaurants often include a service charge, but rounding up or leaving small change is appreciated.

Hong Kong has a subtropical climate. Summers (May to September) are hot, humid, and often rainy, so pack light clothing, an umbrella, and breathable fabrics. Winters (December to February) are mild, with temperatures dropping in the evening—bring a light jacket. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and if visiting temples, carry a shawl or scarf to cover shoulders modestly.
