Canterbury, a historically rich city in England, is a treasure trove of attractions. At its heart stands Canterbury Cathedral, a towering masterpiece of architecture, rising 236 feet high with a captivating blend of Norman, Romanesque, and Gothic styles, some dating back to the 11th century. Its Cathedral Archives house manuscripts, photos, maps, and records dating to the 8th century AD. Known for the infamous 1170 murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket, the cathedral holds a modern altar, monuments to historic battles, and Edward the Black Prince's tomb. Canterbury's medieval center features Canterbury Castle's ruins, a 640-year-old Westgate Towers, and Eastbridge Hospital with architecture from 1190 AD. In St. Margaret’s Church, the "Canterbury Tales" exhibit re-creates 14th-century Canterbury, offering guided tours through Chaucer's tales using waxwork models and interactive storytelling. The Roman Museum, built around a Roman townhouse's remains, provides insights into life almost two thousand years ago. You can stroll through a reconstructed Roman marketplace, rooms, and view Roman mosaic floors, including an intact Roman soldier's helmet from Caesar's invasion. Canterbury Royal Museum and Art Gallery display diverse traditional and contemporary artworks, while the Canterbury Heritage Museum, housed in a former medieval Poor Priests’ Hospital, showcases various items, from children's TV show props to those associated with writer Joseph Conrad, a former resident. A traditional British high tea is a must do in my option. If traditional isnt your cup of tea there are a seemingly endless amount of themed teas including but not limited to Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Bridgerton and Wizard themed.
I love the history of England. There is so much to see and experience not only in regards to history but art and architecture, natural beauty and so much more. It is a very easy country to get around and also very easy to use it as a jumping off point for visiting the rest of Europe.
Late spring to early fall for the best chance of nice weather or during Christmas. London is magical at Christmas time.
The English are actually proud of their cuisine (mostly stereotyped as bland). Afternoon Tea, A full English Breakfast, a Chippy Stand, traditional Sunday roast - all must tries!

Adam, our guide and driver was with us the whole trip and was very knowledgeable about the country and the animals & birds we encountered. Accommodations were excellent, meals were delicious and the Tanzanian people we met at each location were so kind and welcoming. A wonderful trip.pat vickersWe had a wonderful trip to Peru for 11 days organized by Goway. Overall the trip was great, we loved our guides throughout, some of the hotels were truly amazing and it was helpful having everything organized and having a point person to ask questions and check in while we were there.
Some main highlights were:
1) Machu Picchu- I am so glad we did two tours, because the weather was perfect for views, but also had an opportunity to see Machu Picchu more in depth with a knowledgeable and friendly guide and had a little extra time in Aguas Calientes to shop, explore and even visit the butterfly garden and do some birdwatching.
2) Cusco especially the Hotel Aranwa Cusco. The hotel was incredible, excellent service, modern updates, it was a true highlight of the trip. Cusco itself was also a highlight, loved our half day tour, plus getting ideas for our guide on what else to see in our free time and where to eat.
3) Lima- Aloft Miraflores was another highlight, very modern, nice pool and the best breakfast out of the hotels we stayed in. The location in Miraflores was also perfect, as there were plenty of restaurants, cafes and attractions nearby.
4) Everyone at Condor was great, from ensuring we had all our documents, tickets and itinerary to even stepping in to get water and agua Florida when we were feeling the altitude sickness the first hours in Cusco. Most of our rides and transfers were very comfortable and made the trip run smooth through all the different locations.
I have been telling my friends and family how wonderful the experience with Goway has been for our Peru adventure.
