Vietnam & Cambodia beyond my expectations
I had an agent who organized my trip and I can’t say enough wonderful things about it! I went to Vietnam and was met by guides that were caring, knowledgeable and absolutely amazing! The flights and tours were seamlessly and way beyond my expectations! I encourage everyone to go to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year Festival. Cambodia was equally welcoming and amazing to visit. The guides treated me like a princess and filled my cultural cup! You cannot leave Cambodia without loving the people and culture! It touched my soul! 🇻🇳🇰🇭♥️👏🏻👏🏻

Tokyo Post Cruise Stay
Working with Goway was wonderful. I worked with Destination Specialist, Suzette, who was knowledgeable, efficient, kind and patient. Having never been to this city, I needed lots of help and guidance. Everything Suzette planned worked like clockwork. Our guide was outstanding. Our hotel was perfect for us. The entire experience was “over the top” great!

Vietnam/Cambodia Trip
We went on an 18-day trip to Vietnam & Cambodia. It was customized for two couples. Our travel consultant was Harpreet Litt. The hotels, tours, and guides were all first-rate. We enjoyed the trip, and also learned a great deal about the culture & history of these two countries. Thanks again to Harpreet & Goway!

Memorable Thailand!
From start to finish it was extraordinary! Maria put together the entire itinerary for three weeks visiting 4 cities in Thailand. From airport transfers, excursions, hotels to our guides, there was attention to detail like I have never seen. This was our bucket list trip and it truly was so memorable. We enjoyed every minute of each day. Thank you Goway Travel and especially Maria!

My Asia advisor
My Asia advisor, Steve, is probably the overall tour operator rep I've worked with in 20 years. I do both groups and FIT bookings with Goway, and have actually never had a single issue. They go out of their way on both the advisor and client side.

This is my third trip with Goway… Excellent option for using an expert suggestion
This is my third trip with Goway expertise. Mr Lawrence's assistance was excellent in organizing our trip to Thailand. It was a fantastic experience! My family and I returned home very satisfied with how everything was arranged. All schedules were met, and transfers were managed exceptionally well. We plan to return next year and will seek Goway's guidance and suggestions once again. Oscar Perez

Asia - Vietnam, South Korea and Japan
I wanted to share that my family had an incredible experience and could not stop raving about Vietnam and the exceptional services they received throughout their time there. They spoke especially highly of their host, Quan (spelling to be confirmed), who was truly an asset to their journey. He shared an impressive depth of history and local insight, which left a lasting impression on them. One of the standout highlights was the private Master Cooking Class we arranged. The Master Chef was a woman, assisted by her niece, and my clients were deeply impressed—not only by the experience itself, but by the opportunity it provided to show their daughters examples of strong, successful women from Vietnam. Returning to the orphanage from which they adopted their daughters was an especially meaningful and emotional experience for the entire family. At every stop, they were met by drivers and staff who were consistently friendly and helpful. I wanted to share this with you, as I was truly delighted to hear how much they enjoyed every aspect of the experience of this trip. Thank you so much for your help to plan this vacation and I look forward to working with you in the future.

My solo Bali experience
I experienced one of the best trip to Bali in Sept 2025. I celebrated my birthday with a solo trip. Not one minute I felt unsafe. My guide Jim and driver Matood were amazing, knowledgeable and kind. The Balinese way. Lawerence Ferrer my travel consultant worked with me all the way creating activities that flowed and not overwhelming. He was patient and checked with me consistently before my trip and even followed up afterwards. I will never travel again with a travel agent’s the experience is night and day. Custom trip of a lifetime to Japan
My family of 5 adults booked a 3 week custom trip to Japan with GoWay for Oct 2025. We wanted a mix of activities, transportation and hotels that were booked for us through one point of contact, and some booked by us, as well as free days along the way. Not many agencies will do this for you but GoWay did. Harpreet Litt was our agent and she delivered with gold stars. This was a bucket trip of a lifetime for us and she did not disappoint. I am not joking when I say that absolutely nothing logistically went wrong. The private tours we had were a highlight with amazing guides. The bus tours were appropriate and of great value. Transport was easy and reliable and the rest of the time we enjoyed the public transportation and lots of walking of course! Everything we requested was delivered and at a fair price - this wasn’t a luxury vacation but it was comfortable where we needed it to be. I would not hesitate to use them again and I am recommending them to anyone who wants their vacation on their own terms and within their budget.

Travel Information about Myanmar

Get to know Myanmar before you go.

Best Time to Visit

Myanmar’s shifting seasons each carry their own charm, shaping the way you experience its temples, landscapes, and coastlines. From cool breezes and golden skies to monsoon greenery and sun-drenched beaches, every traveller will find a season that suits their journey.

The cool and dry season from November to February is widely considered the best time to visit Myanmar. With crisp air and clear skies, exploring the ancient temples of Bagan or the colonial streets of Yangon feels effortless. The comfortable climate makes long days of sightseeing more enjoyable, though this popularity also draws larger crowds, so early planning is essential.

Travelling between June and October introduces you to Myanmar in its rainy season. Showers bring life to the countryside, cloaking rice paddies and hillsides in vivid green. Fewer visitors make this period particularly rewarding if you seek a quieter experience, whether wandering local markets or drifting along Inle Lake. The rain rarely lingers all day, leaving room for unhurried exploration.

From March to May, Myanmar shifts into summer, when higher temperatures invite a different rhythm of travel. The cooler air of the Shan Hills and other mountain ranges offers refreshing escapes, while the coastline becomes especially inviting. Ngapali and Ngwe Saung beaches promise powdery sand, calm waters, and the chance to unwind with freshly caught seafood. For those who don’t mind the heat, this season combines relaxation and adventure in equal measure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. US and Canadian citizens need a visa to enter Myanmar. Tourist visas can be applied for online (eVisa) and are typically valid for 28 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your departure date. Some regions require special permits, which are arranged through tour operators if you plan to travel outside standard tourist zones.

Burmese is the official language. English is understood in larger cities, hotels, and tourist areas, but less so in rural towns. Most guides and tourism workers can communicate in English, though outside of major destinations you may need help from your guide for day-to-day interactions.

Bagan’s plains, dotted with thousands of ancient temples and pagodas, are unforgettable at sunrise. Inle Lake is famous for stilt-house villages and fishermen who row with their legs. Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda, glittering with gold, is a sacred and iconic landmark. Mandalay offers royal palaces, monasteries, and craft traditions, while U Bein Bridge is striking at sunset. For nature, trekking around Kalaw or exploring the Irrawaddy River adds depth to a journey.

Myanmar’s political situation remains unstable, so conditions can change quickly. Many tourist areas remain open and are considered safe, but travellers should check government advisories before booking. Petty theft is rare, but road safety can be an issue due to poor infrastructure. Stick to well-known routes, travel with a reputable operator, and avoid restricted areas.

Domestic flights are the most practical way to cover long distances between Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, and Inle Lake. Private cars with drivers are often used for shorter journeys. Trains and buses exist but are slow and bumpy. Boats along the Irrawaddy River offer scenic travel between Mandalay and Bagan.

Buddhism shapes daily life. When visiting pagodas and monasteries, remove shoes and socks before entering, and dress modestly—cover shoulders and knees. Do not touch monks, and women should avoid physical contact with them altogether. Avoid pointing your feet toward Buddha images or people. Showing respect and patience in conversations is highly valued.

Myanmar has a tropical climate—hot most of the year, with a rainy season from May to October and a cooler dry season from November to February. Lightweight, breathable clothing is ideal, but bring modest options for temple visits. A light jacket or sweater is useful in the highlands during cooler evenings. Sturdy walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a rain jacket are essential. A scarf or shawl can be handy for both modesty and sun protection.
