Best Time to Visit

Discover diverse Brazil, perfect for year-round adventures and exploration.

Brazil is a year-round destination regardless of the season, and Brazil tours offer a range of experiences based on your preferences. The warmest months, from November to March, with temperatures averaging between 27°C and 33°C, are perfect for experiencing iconic events like New Year's celebrations and Carnival. But Brazil's vast expanse results in a diverse climate. The southern regions have more noticeable seasonal temperature variations compared to the north and the Amazon. Southern Brazil enjoys delightful beach weather from October to April, while the other months are cooler but not cold. Conversely, the northern coast and the Amazon region maintain consistently high temperatures year-round.
The northeast coast experiences some rain in June and July, primarily as afternoon showers. When planning a trip to the Amazon, consider the high and low water seasons. Also, consider whether you'll be on an Amazon cruise or staying in a rainforest lodge for the best experience.

Brazil boasts the world's largest tropical wetland, the Pantanal. The prime time to visit is from April to October when the weather is much cooler and drier, with temperatures ranging from 30°C to 35°C. However, the wetter months in the Pantanal provide unique wildlife viewing opportunities, including the chance to spot jaguars, hyacinth macaws, and capybaras.

When is the ideal time to visit Brazil?

While Brazil's summer lasts from November to March, and winter runs from June to September, the optimal time to explore the country varies by region. In general, the shoulder season, from September to November, offers pleasant weather and fewer crowds, making it an excellent time to experience Brazil's cities and attractions. If you’re going for the parties and people watching on the beaches of Rio and São Paulo, check the dates for Carnival and plan to go in February and March.

When is Brazil 's peak tourist season?

The best time to hit the southern beaches are austral summer from December through March. However, the northern regions of Brazil are equatorial and don’t have a marked summer and winter, so the beaches in places like Salvador are perfect year-round. If you’re heading into the Amazon, consider the rainy season, when roads may be underwater but travel by boat is easier.

Which is the most affordable time to visit Brazil?

October and November have lower prices as there are fewer national holidays and the main tourist season for travellers from the northern hemisphere is over.

How long should I plan to visit Brazil?

Plan a week for each region or city that you want to visit. Popular cities like São Paulo and Salvador can easily fill a week with fascinating neighborhoods, beaches, events and museums. Add on a day trip or two and your week will be packed with outings.

A trip into the Amazon rainforest or hiking destinations like Chapada Diamantina also deserve at least a week. However, you can see the spectacular Iguassu Falls in only two or three days, making it the perfect addition to a week in the cities or jungles.

Our 2-week trip to Normandy, Switzerland and Italy after we disembarked from the Queen Mary 2 in Southampton in mid-May was superb. Michael Keon did an amazing job of putting together highlights for us to see and visit with the short time we had. All the train reservations, private and small group tours and transportations were very well coordinated, on time, and usually exceeded our expectations. Drivers were courteous and knowledgeable. Mike did a wonderful job getting everything coordinated, in spite of our almost “last minute” booking. I booked a month-long trip through GOWAY back in 1989 for Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, and they were superb then. So I tried them again, and found the entire organization to be even better. Mike was quick to respond to any questions that came up regarding booksings and times, regardless of the 6-hour time difference. Just superb! Although we had a nasty experience in Milan, GOWAY was very responsive and saw to our requests and our needs. Again, Michael Keon is the person who coordinated our travel. I will ask for Mike when I travel again with GOWAY. I recommend GOWAY highly. PJ Wheeler

Goway helped plan our two week trip to Peru and they (Virginia in particular) did a great job. The on-site logistics with Condor Travel went very smoothly, and the trip exceeded our expectations overall. They proactively suggested changes to our initial itinerary which were welcomed. I would recommend them and would work with them again in the future.Kate O'Neill

I recently went on an African Safari with my brother-in-law and sister and another couple who I knew. The entire experience was absolutely unbelievable. The complete details were flawlessly coordinated from the transfers to the breathtaking lodges. Our guides Peter showed us Kenya and Maulid Tanzania were very knowledgeable and very sharp eyes for finding the animals. We were able to see the animals up close, learn a lot about the people, birds , vegetation etc. We had several sundowners in the bush really added to a magical experience with beautiful sunsets. I would highly recommend Goway to all my friends, they will not be disappointed. Thank you to Bijal for the excellent African Safari that you put together for us. You were wonderful.Nancy Hay
