Overview

Take a trip to Barossa Valley on your Australia Vacation

The Barossa Valley is a world-class wine region located in South Australia and only 70 kilometres/45 miles northeast of Adelaide. It is Australia’s best-known wine-producing region and has more than 150 wineries to be enjoyed on an Australia vacation.

This picturesque area has been producing wine since the early part of the 1800s. Barossa wines have developed an excellent reputation and have gained international appeal as Australia’s leader in wines of great distinction, particularly Shiraz. The climate is continental and has cool summers and moderate winters.

A typical journey on an Australia vacation through the scenic Barossa Valley takes you over vine-covered hills scattered with historic villages and of course wineries. Wine tastings are featured at most of the wineries and also quite often, there is a restaurant attached offering excellent quality lunches and dinners.

There are three major towns, Tanunda, founded by German settlers, Angaston, by English settlers and Nuriootpa, the commercial centre. Mengler’s Hill Lookout is the perfect spot to have exceptional views of the whole of the Barossa Valley.

There is an excellent Farmers Market every Saturday morning in Angaston where you can buy or sample meats, bread, cheeses and vegetables.

At Goway we feel that no trip to South Australia is complete unless it includes one of our Barossa Valley tours. What's not to like about visiting one of the world's major wine-producing regions!! C’mon say G’day Downunder. Book one of our Australia vacation packages today and start exploring!

Sydney and Melbourne are a great combination for first-time visitors to Australia, with Brisbane, Adelaide and/or the Outback added in, depending on how much time you have. Returnees should take in Perth, Darwin and the Kakadu National Park area and/or Tasmania if they can, plus spend some time in the cities they loved the first time around
