A common question for visitors to South America is related to the feasibility of land travel. Is getting around via car or bus a good option to connect to multiple destinations? While of course possible, often this would involve travel of more than 12 hours or even multiple days to reach top destinations. Unfortunately, there is also the world's largest continental mountain range which inhibits certain road travel – the Andes, stretching through seven countries. Speaking of countries... in South America they are quite BIG. How big you ask? Below are some examples of how South American countries “size” up to those in North America.
