Overview
Take a trip to Wisconsin on your United States Vacation
Wisconsin is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. The bulk of Wisconsin's population lives in areas situated along the shores of Lake Michigan. The largest city is Milwaukee, known as “The City of Festivals” for its Summerfest, Brew Fest, Wisconsin State Fair, and three-day Mexican Fiesta.
The state is known as “America's Dairyland” – Wisconsin produces about a quarter of America's cheese and about one-quarter of the nation's butter.
Wisconsin's geography is diverse, ranging from the Central Plains to the Great Lakes. The state is bordered by the Montreal River, Lake Superior and Michigan to the north and by Lake Michigan to the east. With over 15,000 lakes and 43,000 miles of river, water recreation is very popular. Tourism is a major industry, particularly attracting outdoors enthusiasts: whitewater rafting, outdoor adventure resorts, fishing, hiking in a national park, and beach holidays along the beautiful Great Lakes coastlines are all on offer.
