Banff National Park
Canada's first national park is a scenic paradise in the Rockies with year-round activities. Established in 1885, Banff National Park is known for its stunning landscape of mountains, glaciers, forests, and ice fields. It is home to wolves, black and grizzly bears, coyotes, elks, wolves, caribou, and mountain lions. The park is also popular for its scenic drives through the Icefield Parkway that connects it to Jasper National Park.
Summer is the most popular time in Banff, attracting hikers and mountain climbers. The Banff Gondola is an ideal way to catch sweeping views of the Canadian Rockies. River rafting, trout fishing, and horseback riding are other popular activities during the busier seasons. Winter at Banff is for skiing and snowboarding adventures. You can ice skate on Lake Louise or join a guided interpretive hike to learn about local wildlife this time of the year. If you're visiting during the summer or shoulder season, watch out for bears while hiking.
