Overview

Take a trip to Apia on your Samoa Vacation

Apia is the largest urban centre and only city in Samoa on the second largest island in the country, Upolu. It is located at the mouth of a river on the coast. The city of Apia is bustling and friendly, a good starting point for travel around the country on Samoa vacations. There are still some early wooden colonial buildings scattered around the city and the traditional Polynesian lifestyle can be seen throughout the markets, churches and streets of Apia.

Nearby and hovering over the city is Mount Vaea which can be climbed reasonably easily. Its main interest is the Vailima Museum which was formerly the home of Robert Louis Stevenson, the Scottish writer who spent the last four years of his life in Samoa and is buried close by.

The Pyrenean Mountain scenery and tax-free shopping are two of my favourite things about travelling to Andorra.

I love learning about Nicaragua's culture and experiencing its Spanish influence in some cities. I was only there for five days, but I'll never forget how delicious the food was and how welcoming and extremely polite the people were.

Festival de Los Farolitos is an annual nighttime festival held every September in the town of Ataco, where the streets, houses, and plazas are illuminated with thousands of handmade lanterns (farolitos). Families craft them using colored paper, wood, calabash gourds, or jars, each with a candle inside. Although it's tied to the eve of the Virgin Mary’s birthday, it has evolved into a cultural celebration of community, light, creativity, and town pride.
