Overview
Take a trip to Tahaa on your French Polynesia Vacation
The small island of Taha’a is reached by boat from its neighbour, the island of Raiatea. The two islands are actually enclosed by the same coral reef and may have once been one island. Shaped like a flower, its soft mountain shapes hover in the background. The island is very fertile, known mainly for its production of vanilla (Taha’a produces 70/80% of French Polynesia’s vanilla). On Tahiti vacations, the scent of vanilla is everywhere along with the aroma of hibiscus trees. In fact, it is known as Vanilla Island.
Other products here are bananas, coconuts and watermelons.
It is a quiet, tranquil destination offering sandy beaches, snorkeling, scuba diving and other water sports on a Tahiti vacation. It is ideal for hiking and the ability to enjoy a beautiful array of flora.
A coastal road surrounds the island and there is no public transportation. A jeep safari is one way of getting to know Taha’a.

The iconic Poisson Cru must be tried while in French Polynesia - it is raw fish marinated in lime juice and coconut milk - so good!
The Food - Polynesian cuisine is based upon using top quality fresh local produce and both savory and sweet dishes often flavored with vanilla or coconut milk. It's surprising to hear many of the perishable ingredients that go into your meals are flown in from various other international countries, and yet, can still taste so fresh and exquisite.
I love the stunning natural beauty, the wonderful people and the opportunity to experience this unique Polynesian culture
