This captivating destination promises adventure for those ready to embark on the best Madagascar tours. Get ready to immerse yourself in the unspoiled beauty of lush rainforests, rare wildlife, and vibrant cultures that set this island apart from any other place on earth.

Exploring the Land of Lemurs

What makes trips to Madagascar particularly enticing is its unique biodiversity, mainly attributed to its lemurs. These charming primates, found nowhere else on the planet, are among the must-see things in Madagascar. Head to the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, home to the largest lemur species, the Indri, whose haunting calls echo across the forest canopy. The park also houses countless other native species, including chameleons and colourful birds.

From Baobabs to Beaches

Beyond the forests, Madagascar’s landscapes shift dramatically to offer a tapestry of terrains. The Avenue of the Baobabs is another must-see thing in Madagascar. This iconic sandy avenue is lined with towering baobab trees, and visiting during sunset can turn your photographs into stunning silhouettes against the fiery sky.

For sun-seekers, the idyllic beaches of Nosy Be offer azure waters perfect for swimming, snorkelling, or just sunbathing. This island provides a laid-back atmosphere complete with inviting resorts and the tranquil setting of seaside villages. The allure of Nosy Be makes it a staple inclusion in the best Madagascar tours.

A Dive into Madagascar’s Cultural Tapestry

Trips to Madagascar aren’t complete without delving into its rich cultural heritage. The island’s population represents a vibrant mosaic of ethnic groups, each contributing to the country’s diverse cultural narrative. Visit Antananarivo, the bustling capital, to explore markets brimming with local crafts, spices, and the hustle-bustle of everyday Malagasy life.

Furthermore, Madagascar's cultural tapestry is vividly brought to life through its festivals and traditional music. Engage with locals to learn about their customs, from the famadihana (turning of the bones ceremony) to distinct culinary traditions involving flavoursome rice dishes and zebu meat.

Meeting the Waters: Adventures Await

Madagascar’s coastal allure extends well past its sandy shores. The waters surrounding the island offer unparalleled opportunities for maritime adventure. Dive enthusiasts will find their paradise in the seas around Île Sainte-Marie, where they can swim alongside massive whale sharks or witness humpback whales breaching elegantly during their migratory season.

For those preferring the thrill of riding the waves, Madagascar's western coast is renowned for its surf-friendly waters. Whether you are an experienced surfer or a beginner, the vibrant coral reefs and dynamic waves are welcoming to all skill levels.

Savouring the Island’s Flavours

A journey to Madagascar promises more than visual splendours; it is also a culinary expedition. The island's cuisine is a delectable fusion influenced by Asian, African, and European gastronomy. Enjoying the local flavours is one of the must-see things in Madagascar, whether it’s sampling a steaming bowl of romazava, a traditional meat stew, or the spicy delight of ravitoto, crafted from cassava leaves.

The bustling cities and secluded villages alike offer gastronomic experiences that cater to all tastes. Be sure to try the freshwater fish and exotic fruits that make up an essential part of local dining.

Essential Travel Tips for Madagascar

You should try a Zen meditation session. Imagine slipping into a silk kimono for the day—carefully tied by an expert dresser, every fold precise, every colour chosen to suit the season. It’s a ritual that feels as personal as it is timeless.

What do I love about Japan? In a word - EVERYTHING. The incredible contrast that Japan offers - new/innovative vs old/traditional, the warm and welcoming people, the incredible rich culture, the culinary wonders awaiting around every corner, the cleanliness, efficiency and safety. It's one of the best places to visit in Asia in my opinion.

Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a local favourite with very inexpensive drinks. It's also a great place to try the local delicacy, BBQ frog.

I love how laidback and relaxed Laos is compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. It's like the best of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand all rolled into one, and then sent back in time 20 to 30 years.

Everything was expertly planned, from the drivers to the hotels to the tours to the flights. We particularly enjoyed Hobart and the animal sanctuary, Adelaide and the trip to Kangaroo Island, Melbourne and the evening tour with dinner and drinks, and Sydney with the private boat cruise of the Harbour. We will definitely use Goway again.SARA Wiebe

There were 4 travelers on this trip. All of us were in our late 70's. We started planning this trip 6 months prior to our travel date and had a lot of questions regarding this trip. Our Goway Travel Specialist, Karen Larrota, always answered our questions in a timely and complete manner. We traveled to Quito, Ecuador, the Galapagos, The Sacred Valley in Peru, Machu Picchu, and Cusco in Peru. Not only were the destinations and accommodations excellent, but every tour guide and driver were beyond excellent. The entire trip went smoothly every step of the way, which was amazing given the fact that there were numerous flights and hotels included in our package. We found out that the tour company that Goway used, Condor Travel, checked on us with our guide to make sure we were doing OK which we thought was very nice but also amusing as we are fairly fit older adults. Would also like to mention that we did a cruise thru the Galapagos on the Galapagos Legend which was arranged thru Go Galapagos - Kleintouurs. This portion of our tour was also excellent as were the wildlife guides and staff. We continue to discuss how wonderful this trip was with our family and friends and how wonderful this experience was. Would definately use Goway for our travel needs in the future.Dianne

My daughter and I had a wonderful 2 weeks in New Zealand! The country is so beautiful and the people so friendly. Our destination specialist did a great job with planning and organizing the itinerary, choosing our hotels, and organizing transportation. The hotels were absolutely beautiful and we had great views. We felt right at home and found all of the staff to be friendly and accommodating. There were no issues with our itinerary and our excursions we were always on the list. Our transportation was always ready and waiting for us. We want to thank Goway Travel for their hard work and patience with us in planning this trip. Any changes that needed to be made were communicated timely. We also want to thank you for the beautiful weather during the entire 2 weeks it was perfect every day 😀. It was a memorable trip that we will never forget and we will think of Goway when we plan our next adventure. Because it was not just a vacation; it was an adventure!Connie Wenhardt

Brigitta Fuller is Amazing! She was my group coordinator. She understood the assignment and all the nuances I was trying to achieve. The itinerary she curated was fantastic. If you want someone who truly cares about her group and what they are trying to achieve. I will always reach out to Brigitta first for Europe groups. Kathryn Walker

My clients had a wonderful time on their trip to Easter Island. They were very pleased with the Hare Nua Hotel Boutique and especially noted the warmth and hospitality of the hotel staff as well as their excellent breakfasts. Jaime Vargas-Hendandez was an exceptionally gracious and knowledgeable agent, who went out of his way to ensure that my clients had the best possible experience. I will definitely contact him for future bookings and will recommend him to my colleagues.Alethea Kardas
