Imagine wandering through picturesque landscapes where the serene greens of sprawling forests meet azure seas, and quaint cobblestone streets echo with tales as old as time. Welcome to Sweden, a Nordic gem that perfectly blends natural wonders with cultural richness. Whether you're an adventure enthusiast or a culture connoisseur, the best Sweden tours offer an array of experiences that cater to every traveler’s desires. Let's embark on a journey to discover what makes Sweden an indispensable destination on any travel itinerary.

The Allure of Swedish Landscapes

There’s no shortage of breathtaking vistas in Sweden, each more captivating than the last. The scenic beauty of Lapland’s snow-capped terrains invites adventurers to explore its majestic wilderness. Get lost under the spell of the Northern Lights, a natural phenomenon that paints the night sky with surreal colors, creating experiences etched in memory.

And then there’s the bustling heart of Sweden, Stockholm—an archipelago of 14 islands, boasting a perfect blend of historical architecture and cutting-edge design. The vibrant energy of this city mirrors the nation’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. A tour of Sweden’s capital isn't complete without wandering around the narrow, winding streets of Gamla Stan, the medieval old town, where every corner tells a story.

Embracing Swedish Heritage and Culture

Diving into Sweden’s cultural heritage, one is immersed in a tapestry of history and art. The Vasa Museum in Stockholm offers a glimpse into maritime history with its salvaged 17th-century ship—a remarkable window into the past. For a more interactive cultural experience, the Skansen Open-Air Museum demonstrates Swedish history come to life, with its preserved structures and traditional crafts.

To truly experience Sweden’s cultural soul, time your visit to coincide with Midsummer—one of the liveliest and most celebrated festivities in the Swedish calendar. Imagine open fields dotted with floral crowns, the air filled with merry laughter as families and friends dance around maypoles. It's a unique cultural immersion—a dance of joy and life under the endless summer sun.

A Culinary Journey: Savoring Swedish Flavours

No journey through Sweden is complete without indulging in its culinary delights. Swedish cuisine is a harmonious chorus of fresh, local ingredients that sing the praises of its land and sea. Relish traditional dishes like ‘köttbullar’ (meatballs) topped with lingonberry sauce, or sample the gravlax, a finely cured salmon that’s a staple on festive tables.

Sweet tooths will find solace in ‘fika’—the quintessential Swedish coffee break that's as much a cultural ritual as it is a culinary indulgence. Enjoy a warm cup of coffee accompanied by classic pastries like cinnamon buns or cardamom breads, as you engage in friendly chatter at quaint cafés that dot the cityscapes.

Practical Tips for Your Swedish Adventure

Ready to explore Sweden in the best way possible? Here are some practical tips to enhance your travel experience. Alternatively, winter unfurls a different kind of beauty, when the land is blanketed in snow, making it perfect for those seeking winter sports or a cozy retreat amidst nature’s tranquillity.

As you plan your visit, remember Sweden is known for its extensive public transportation network, which is both efficient and eco-friendly—an easy way to navigate both urban and rural landscapes.

You should try a Zen meditation session. Imagine slipping into a silk kimono for the day—carefully tied by an expert dresser, every fold precise, every colour chosen to suit the season. It’s a ritual that feels as personal as it is timeless.

What do I love about Japan? In a word - EVERYTHING. The incredible contrast that Japan offers - new/innovative vs old/traditional, the warm and welcoming people, the incredible rich culture, the culinary wonders awaiting around every corner, the cleanliness, efficiency and safety. It's one of the best places to visit in Asia in my opinion.

Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a local favourite with very inexpensive drinks. It's also a great place to try the local delicacy, BBQ frog.

I love how laidback and relaxed Laos is compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. It's like the best of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand all rolled into one, and then sent back in time 20 to 30 years.

Everything was expertly planned, from the drivers to the hotels to the tours to the flights. We particularly enjoyed Hobart and the animal sanctuary, Adelaide and the trip to Kangaroo Island, Melbourne and the evening tour with dinner and drinks, and Sydney with the private boat cruise of the Harbour. We will definitely use Goway again.SARA Wiebe

There were 4 travelers on this trip. All of us were in our late 70's. We started planning this trip 6 months prior to our travel date and had a lot of questions regarding this trip. Our Goway Travel Specialist, Karen Larrota, always answered our questions in a timely and complete manner. We traveled to Quito, Ecuador, the Galapagos, The Sacred Valley in Peru, Machu Picchu, and Cusco in Peru. Not only were the destinations and accommodations excellent, but every tour guide and driver were beyond excellent. The entire trip went smoothly every step of the way, which was amazing given the fact that there were numerous flights and hotels included in our package. We found out that the tour company that Goway used, Condor Travel, checked on us with our guide to make sure we were doing OK which we thought was very nice but also amusing as we are fairly fit older adults. Would also like to mention that we did a cruise thru the Galapagos on the Galapagos Legend which was arranged thru Go Galapagos - Kleintouurs. This portion of our tour was also excellent as were the wildlife guides and staff. We continue to discuss how wonderful this trip was with our family and friends and how wonderful this experience was. Would definately use Goway for our travel needs in the future.Dianne

After spending some time with our agent, we felt that she understood exactly what we had in mind as far as the level of service, etc, we were hoping for. The trip exceeded our expectations. Lori kept us busy(not too busy!) and we had many, many very exciting experiences. Bruce Belshaw

Aylin is an exceptionally proficient advisor. Coordinating my clients simultaneously often feels like herding cats, but she has remained patient and accommodating through every modification and delay. Goway continues to be my go-to for complex itineraries, and they never disappoint.Nick Cron, ACC

My daughter and I had a wonderful 2 weeks in New Zealand! The country is so beautiful and the people so friendly. Our destination specialist did a great job with planning and organizing the itinerary, choosing our hotels, and organizing transportation. The hotels were absolutely beautiful and we had great views. We felt right at home and found all of the staff to be friendly and accommodating. There were no issues with our itinerary and our excursions we were always on the list. Our transportation was always ready and waiting for us. We want to thank Goway Travel for their hard work and patience with us in planning this trip. Any changes that needed to be made were communicated timely. We also want to thank you for the beautiful weather during the entire 2 weeks it was perfect every day 😀. It was a memorable trip that we will never forget and we will think of Goway when we plan our next adventure. Because it was not just a vacation; it was an adventure!Connie Wenhardt

Brigitta Fuller is Amazing! She was my group coordinator. She understood the assignment and all the nuances I was trying to achieve. The itinerary she curated was fantastic. If you want someone who truly cares about her group and what they are trying to achieve. I will always reach out to Brigitta first for Europe groups. Kathryn Walker

My clients had a wonderful time on their trip to Easter Island. They were very pleased with the Hare Nua Hotel Boutique and especially noted the warmth and hospitality of the hotel staff as well as their excellent breakfasts. Jaime Vargas-Hendandez was an exceptionally gracious and knowledgeable agent, who went out of his way to ensure that my clients had the best possible experience. I will definitely contact him for future bookings and will recommend him to my colleagues.Alethea Kardas
