Overview
Take a trip to Londonderry on your Northern Ireland Vacation
Londonderry, also known as Derry, is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland. It lies close to the border with Eire and is an old walled city located on the banks of the River Foyle. It is in fact, the only remaining, completely intact walled city in Ireland. The walls were built in the 17th Century and are approximately 1.6 kilometres/1 mile in circumference forming a walkway around the inner part of Londonderry. There are four original gates with three more added later.
The city is renowned for its architecture with its collection of late Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian buildings. Historic buildings within the city walls include St Augustine's Church which sits on the city walls close to the site of an original monastic settlement, the 1633 Gothic cathedral of St Columb, the copper-domed Austin's department store which—claims to be the oldest such store in the world—and the imposing Greek Revival Courthouse.
There are a number of museums which include the Foyle Valley Railway, the Amelia Earhart Centre and Wildlife Sanctuary, the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall, the Harbour Museum, the Museum of Free Derry, and the Tower Museum—an award-winning attraction which tells the history of Londonderry—and the Workhouse Museum. An interesting feature of the city is in Bogside, a district once associated with “The Troubles” where there are numerous murals painted by Bogside artists.

The Festes Majors are summer festivals held in the villages of Andorra. Each festival is unique to the village, with its own distinct style.
The Pyrenean Mountain scenery and tax-free shopping are two of my favourite things about travelling to Andorra.
I love learning about Nicaragua's culture and experiencing its Spanish influence in some cities. I was only there for five days, but I'll never forget how delicious the food was and how welcoming and extremely polite the people were.
The Day of the Dead in Guatemala is a great local tradition where people gather to fly giant, intricately decorated kites to honour the dead.
The colourful Spanish architecture, the beautiful scenery, particularly the stunning lakes, and the Mayan ruins are what I love most about Guatemala!
