Overview
Take a trip to Nuuk on your Greenland Vacation
Nuuk is the capital and largest city in the autonomous Danish territory of Greenland. While its population is small compared to other capital cities worldwide (just under 20,000 people), it’s not lacking for infrastructure, with surprisingly robust shopping, restaurant, and cultural scenes. Colourful homes line the deep blue waters of the harbour; historic church spires pierce the clear northern air. A new international airport connects the city to international gateways as well as settlements across Greenland. Nuuk is also a port for northern cruises through Greenland and other parts of the Atlantic.
Located only 241 km (150 mi) south of the Arctic Circle, Nuuk is surrounded by gorgeous northern landscapes. It’s close to and named after Nuuk Fjord, the world’s second-largest fjord system. It’s also only a 10-minute drive from snow-capped mountains. Nuuk is something of a northern outpost town and the starting point for most adventures through Greenland.
Nuuk is gorgeous, especially in the height of summer when the Midnight Sun bathes the surrounding fjord and coastline in golden light for long hours every day. During this time of year, you can spend long days hiking the surrounding fjords before retiring to local wine bars and cafes to bond with the locals, who are always curious about the stories of travellers who make it up to Nuuk.
Founded by Danish missionaries in 1728 on the site of an existing Inuit settlement, Nuuk struggled to establish itself throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. However, midway through the 20th century in the wake of World War II, it gained increased self-governance from a distant Denmark, achieving Home Rule in 1979 and further governance with the Self-Government Act in the early 21st century.
Recent decades have seen Nuuk build its local infrastructure to shore up the burgeoning tourism industry and grow the economy. The Colonial Harbour is ground zero for historical sightseeing in Nuuk, as it provides insight into the city’s past with a variety of museums and historic homes. Visit the Greenland National Museum and Archives for a more comprehensive history of the nation. You can also tour the Nuuk Art Museum to learn about the history of Greenlandic art and see works by some of the most celebrated artists in the far north.

You should try a Zen meditation session. Imagine slipping into a silk kimono for the day—carefully tied by an expert dresser, every fold precise, every colour chosen to suit the season. It’s a ritual that feels as personal as it is timeless.
What do I love about Japan? In a word - EVERYTHING. The incredible contrast that Japan offers - new/innovative vs old/traditional, the warm and welcoming people, the incredible rich culture, the culinary wonders awaiting around every corner, the cleanliness, efficiency and safety. It's one of the best places to visit in Asia in my opinion.
Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a local favourite with very inexpensive drinks. It's also a great place to try the local delicacy, BBQ frog.
I love how laidback and relaxed Laos is compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. It's like the best of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand all rolled into one, and then sent back in time 20 to 30 years.
The Festes Majors are summer festivals held in the villages of Andorra. Each festival is unique to the village, with its own distinct style.

Fuji was in total fog but at least the lunch was very good and so was the drum solo, also our tour guide kept our spirits up ( she was the best).
Taryn picked hotels that were very convenient to the meeting point of our tours which was much appreciated and organized all aspects of our trip perfectly. My clients loved every moment of their trip, especially their resort stays and overwater bungalow experiences. As this was their honeymoon, creating a seamless and memorable journey was so important, and Mary exceeded expectations. They rated their experience a 5 out of 5 and could not have been happier.

Harjit CElisa planned our trip. We were met at the airport by Paul who drove us to Arusha. Adam, our guide and driver was with us the whole trip and was very knowledgeable about the country and the animals & birds we encountered. Accommodations were excellent, meals were delicious and the Tanzanian people we met at each location were so kind and welcoming. A wonderful trip.pat vickersWe had a wonderful trip to Peru for 11 days organized by Goway. Overall the trip was great, we loved our guides throughout, some of the hotels were truly amazing and it was helpful having everything organized and having a point person to ask questions and check in while we were there.
Some main highlights were:
1) Machu Picchu- I am so glad we did two tours, because the weather was perfect for views, but also had an opportunity to see Machu Picchu more in depth with a knowledgeable and friendly guide and had a little extra time in Aguas Calientes to shop, explore and even visit the butterfly garden and do some birdwatching.
2) Cusco especially the Hotel Aranwa Cusco. The hotel was incredible, excellent service, modern updates, it was a true highlight of the trip. Cusco itself was also a highlight, loved our half day tour, plus getting ideas for our guide on what else to see in our free time and where to eat.
3) Lima- Aloft Miraflores was another highlight, very modern, nice pool and the best breakfast out of the hotels we stayed in. The location in Miraflores was also perfect, as there were plenty of restaurants, cafes and attractions nearby.
4) Everyone at Condor was great, from ensuring we had all our documents, tickets and itinerary to even stepping in to get water and agua Florida when we were feeling the altitude sickness the first hours in Cusco. Most of our rides and transfers were very comfortable and made the trip run smooth through all the different locations.
I have been telling my friends and family how wonderful the experience with Goway has been for our Peru adventure.
