Embark on a New Zealand Food and Wine Tour

When it comes to blending natural beauty with culinary excellence, a New Zealand food and wine tour is unrivaled. Nestled in the heart of stunning vineyards, these tours offer a sensory feast that combines lush landscapes with exquisite flavours. Visiting regions like Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay, you’ll discover why New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blanc is celebrated worldwide. As you wander through these lush green vines, don’t miss the opportunity to sample award-winning wines paired perfectly with local specialties.

Beyond the vineyards, New Zealand food and wine tours provide intimate glimpses into artisanal cheese-making adventures and visits to boutique olive groves. Each stop introduces you to passionate locals eager to share their craft, ensuring every taste tells a story.

Local Markets: A Gastronomic Playground

Dive into the community spirit by exploring bustling local farmers markets—an essential part of any New Zealand food tour. These vibrant markets, such as Auckland’s La Cigale or Wellington Night Market, are treasure troves of fresh produce, homemade delicacies, and indigenous ingredients. Sampling goods from stall to stall, you'll savour diverse flavours—from creamy local cheeses to manuka honey and exotic fruits.

Moreover, these markets act as cultural microcosms where you can immerse yourself in the authentic daily life of Kiwis. Engage with friendly vendors who share family recipes passed down through generations, and perhaps leave with a few culinary tips of your own.

A Culinary Melange: Traditional and Contemporary Cuisine

New Zealand's food scene is a delightful amalgamation of tradition and innovation. While on your epicurean journey, be sure to relish in the traditional Māori hāngi—a feast of meats and vegetables cooked underground. This age-old technique lends a unique, smoky flavour that’s both nostalgic and remarkable.

Alongside traditional fare, you'll discover a flourishing contemporary culinary landscape championed by visionary chefs fusing global flavours with local ingredients. Coastal cities like Wellington and Christchurch boast eclectic eateries offering everything from Korean fusion to classic French fare, each providing an extra layer of depth to your New Zealand food tours.

Linger Over Flavours in Luxurious Settings

No trips to New Zealand would be complete without indulging in its luxurious culinary experiences. Imagine dining on gourmet meals crafted with precision at a hilltop restaurant overlooking Lake Wakatipu's crystalline waters or sharing an intimate meal under the expansive southern sky.

For those seeking the extraordinary, New Zealand’s lavish lodges offer bespoke dining experiences tailored to your palate. Whether it’s a private chef-curated wine and dine evening or an intimate picnic surrounded by nature's splendour, these exclusive offerings transform your journey into an unforgettable adventure.

Practical Tips for Your New Zealand Culinary Adventure

As you plan your trips to New Zealand, it’s wise to come prepared for a delightful array of culinary experiences. Here are a few practical tips to ensure you make the most of your gastronomic journey:

  • Consider visiting during harvest season (March to May) to experience the freshest produce and partake in wine harvest festivals.
  • Book your New Zealand food and wine tours in advance to secure spots, especially during peak seasons.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for market explorations, as you’ll likely spend hours walking through different stalls.
  • Stay hydrated and pace yourself during tastings, allowing each flavour to linger without overwhelming your palate.
  • Bring along a reusable bag for any delightful purchases you make along the way—from artisanal goods to local wines.

With every bite and sip, New Zealand invites you to discover a world where nature's bounty meets culinary artistry. Ready your senses for an adventure that promises not only to satiate your taste buds but to enrich your spirit with the warmth and kindness of the Kiwis. As you plan your next escape, let the allure of New Zealand's food and wine tours guide your wanderlust trail.

We recently traveled to Portugal and had the most wonderful experience. As our first venture overseas, we decided to search online for travel assistance. We happened across Goway Travel and are so glad we did! Michael Keon, our Destination Specialist, is extremely proficient and knowledgeable in his profession. "Thorough" is an understatement. He assisted every step of the way from the moment we stepped on our flights, transfer arrangements, hotel accommodations, train travel and multiple tours/outings tailored to our specific needs/wish list. He provided unparalleled guidance and support during the planning process and was always available to discuss any questions/concerns. His communications were always prompt and concise. Without a doubt, our best trip to date...there will be no hesitation to contact Mr. Keon for future travels. Joanna Lynn Mays Michael Andrew Mays Joanna Mays

What made this experience great was Cedric Wai. Had a client going to Asia and this is Cedric's wheelhouse since he is from there. Everything was wonderful. Everything went smoothly. The individual tours were wonderful and all the guides were exceptional. A lot of traveling-the flight was very good on Cathay Pacific would highly recommend their airline seats were comfortable and spaced well. Being on an airplane for 16 hours sucks in general, but other than being a little sore from being stuck in one place all was good. Thank you so much for all your help and the trip was wonderful and everything that it should be! Next trip will be much more relaxing, sitting still for a while on a beach somewhere ha ha!Careen Sullivan

My destination specialist, Katie Stephenson was amazing from the onset. Her customer service, communication style and planning skills was so timely and top notch. Our trip was to Fiji, New Zealand and Australia, from Aug 4-22, 2026. The way she planned and booked the trip makes the experience convenient and enjoyable. The flexibility of payment makes the decision faster and attractive. Everything we need to know including contacts were readily available within our travel documents itinerary. Overall, I'll say it's money well spent and a lifetime experience particularly for my kids.Festus

We went on a highly customized comprehensive (though quick tour) of England and a bit of Scotland through Goway. Ingrid Aird did an amazing job of planning and arranging every detail with her deep experience, insight, thoughtfulness and creativity, tuning into the needs of each traveler; and she did so even though our decision to travel was rather spontaneous and last minute! Our family had the best time! We look forward to working with Ingrid and Goway again!Vilja Breiling
