Take a trip to Cochin on your India Vacation
Cochin (also known as Kochi) is situated on the southwest coast of the Indian peninsula and is the largest city in Kerala. Considered Kerala’s financial, commercial, and industrial capital, Cochin has been an important trading port since ancient times. It is a city to be enjoyed on India tours
Popularly referred to as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Cochin was a major harbour from the times of the British and Portuguese, therefore offering a blend of Indian and Western culture.
On a trip to India, Cochin features a rich heritage of forts, churches, and temples. The Dutch Palace at Mattancherry is renowned for its wall murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana. Fort Kochi, though now in ruins, contains many remains of Indo-European architecture. The Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called Jew Town is a fascinating mixture of shops, warehouses, and spice auction rooms. St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India, stands as the pride of Fort Cochin. The Chinese fishing nets are huge cantilevered fishing nets believed to have been brought to Cochin by Chinese traders.
An experience on a houseboat through the backwaters of Kerala is highly recommended when visiting Cochin. Day trips or overnight stays offer a scenic boat ride through the natural and manmade lakes, which run parallel to the Arabian Sea.
A cosmopolitan city, blended with colonial history and natural surroundings, Cochin is one of India’s most beautiful destinations on Indian tours.

What I love most about visiting India is how alive everything feels. The colours, the food, the people. Every place has its own vibe and story. One moment you’re in a quiet temple, the next you’re in a bustling street market. It’s chaotic in the best way
My favourite drinks are aam panna, a traditional Indian summer drink made from raw mangoes, known for its refreshing taste and cooling properties, and mango lassi, the iconic Indian yogurt drink
