Overview
Take a trip to Aswan on your Egypt Vacation
Aswan is a busy market city and popular tourist centre found just north of the Aswan Dam on the east bank of the Nile River. It is Egypt’s hottest and driest inhabited city and has been a favourite winter resort for Egyptians since early in the 19th century. It is also a popular stopover for visitors on an Egypt tour.
Aswan sits on the site of the ancient city of Swentet. Due to its proximity to the Nile, Swentet was Egypt’s first town and served as the Ancient Egyptians’ gateway to Africa. It was also an important military station and acted as a garrison town under every dynasty.
The joy of Aswan on Egypt tours is its relaxed atmosphere and that is it small enough to walk around, offering some of the most stunning settings found along the Nile. In fact, many claim that the Nile is at its most beautiful in Aswan.

What do the experts say?
Egypt is modern and cosmopolitan, yet still rooted in a culture of hospitality. Whether sipping tea with locals or exploring sacred sites, you will find that human connections are as memorable as the monuments themselves
The ancient monuments carry an extraordinary historical significance and relevance. You feel it the moment you are there!
Be prepared for a modest society. Both men and women generally cover their shoulders and knees, and visitors should do the same out of respect.
November to April is the most pleasant weather-wise, while summer can be sweltering with many days over 45 degrees Celsius (about 113 degrees Fahrenheit).
For Egypt's biggest draw, the people have to be on top, but the culture and history are not far behind. It’s a destination where warm hospitality pairs with awe-inspiring history to create an experience like no other.
