Botswana is a symphony of vibrant landscapes, ranging from expansive savannahs to the lush waterways of the Okavango Delta. Known for its incredible wildlife and pristine wilderness, it's no wonder that the best Botswana tours attract nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike. Whether you're weaving through labyrinthine channels or spotting the Big Five on a game drive, every moment in this African wonderland is an invitation to explore the wild.

Discover the Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta stands out as one of the most captivating aspects of any Botswana vacation package. This UNESCO World Heritage Site transforms into a lush paradise, teeming with wildlife during the seasonal floods. Glide silently in a mokoro—a traditional dugout canoe—alongside elephants grazing on the banks and hippos wallowing in the cool waters. This serene journey offers a unique vantage point to witness the delta's rich biodiversity, making it a must-see thing in Botswana.

Explore the Vastness of Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park, often acclaimed for its dense elephant population, offers unforgettable safari experiences. As the sun casts a golden glow over the Savuti Marsh, predators and prey enact one of nature's most ancient dramas. The Chobe Riverfront is particularly renowned for its spectacular boat cruises, where sundowner moments are shared with the sight of wildlife congregating at the water's edge. Choosing a Botswana vacation package that includes Chobe ensures you won't miss out on these mesmerizing encounters.

Uncover the Ancient Makgadikgadi Pans

For a stark contrast, the Makgadikgadi Pans beckon with their mesmerizing expanses of salt-encrusted wilderness. Once a super lake that covered much of central Botswana, today, these pans whisper the secrets of time long past. During the wet season, the pans burst into life, supporting migratory birds and zebra herds. Taking a guided quad bike tour here allows you to take in the vastness—an exhilarating experience that feels like riding across an infinite mirror.

Engage with the Rich Culture of the San People

Interwoven with Botswana's natural splendour is a tapestry of rich cultural heritage. The San people, one of the world’s oldest continuous cultures, offer a profound connection to the land. Participating in a cultural tour presents an opportunity to learn about their traditional way of life, tracking skills, and spiritual practices. Listening to the rhythmic click sounds of their endangered language as they share stories of the past, you gain a deeper appreciation of Botswana beyond its tourist attractions. This cultural immersion should be a cornerstone of your best Botswana tours.

Luxury and Leisure in the Heart of Wilderness

Botswana is not just for the intrepid traveler; it also caters to those seeking luxury in the lap of nature. High-end lodges and camps blend seamlessly into the environment, offering both comfort and exclusivity. Imagine waking up to the distant roar of a lion as the sun peeks over the horizon, while you enjoy your morning coffee on a private deck. Many Botswana vacation packages offer a mix of luxury and adventure, creating an exquisite balance between nature and comfort.

Practical Tips for Your Botswana Adventure

  • Best Time to Visit: The dry season, from May to October, is ideal for wildlife viewing, as animals concentrate around water sources.
  • Travel Essentials: Binoculars, a good camera, and light, breathable clothing suitable for safari conditions will enhance your experience.
  • Health and Safety: Consulting a health professional about vaccinations and malaria prevention is advisable before your trip.
  • Respect Local Cultures: Engaging with local communities with respect and openness enriches your travel experience and supports sustainability.

As the stars weave stories against Botswana's night sky, they whisper promises of adventure, intimacy with nature, and a journey that resonates far beyond a distant land. Whether it's trekking through vast wilderness or engaging deeply with its cultures, Botswana invites you to discover not merely a vacation but an awakening of the senses. Embark on the best Botswana tour, where every moment is a memory in the making.

Our 2-week trip to Normandy, Switzerland and Italy after we disembarked from the Queen Mary 2 in Southampton in mid-May was superb. Michael Keon did an amazing job of putting together highlights for us to see and visit with the short time we had. All the train reservations, private and small group tours and transportations were very well coordinated, on time, and usually exceeded our expectations. Drivers were courteous and knowledgeable. Mike did a wonderful job getting everything coordinated, in spite of our almost “last minute” booking. I booked a month-long trip through GOWAY back in 1989 for Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, and they were superb then. So I tried them again, and found the entire organization to be even better. Mike was quick to respond to any questions that came up regarding booksings and times, regardless of the 6-hour time difference. Just superb! Although we had a nasty experience in Milan, GOWAY was very responsive and saw to our requests and our needs. Again, Michael Keon is the person who coordinated our travel. I will ask for Mike when I travel again with GOWAY. I recommend GOWAY highly. PJ Wheeler

Goway helped plan our two week trip to Peru and they (Virginia in particular) did a great job. The on-site logistics with Condor Travel went very smoothly, and the trip exceeded our expectations overall. They proactively suggested changes to our initial itinerary which were welcomed. I would recommend them and would work with them again in the future.Kate O'Neill

I recently went on an African Safari with my brother-in-law and sister and another couple who I knew. The entire experience was absolutely unbelievable. The complete details were flawlessly coordinated from the transfers to the breathtaking lodges. Our guides Peter showed us Kenya and Maulid Tanzania were very knowledgeable and very sharp eyes for finding the animals. We were able to see the animals up close, learn a lot about the people, birds , vegetation etc. We had several sundowners in the bush really added to a magical experience with beautiful sunsets. I would highly recommend Goway to all my friends, they will not be disappointed. Thank you to Bijal for the excellent African Safari that you put together for us. You were wonderful.Nancy Hay
